Heritage Scones
|
2 Cups flour 1 T sugar (T=tablespoon) 3 1/2 tsp baking powder (tsp=teaspoon) 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp soda 1/4 Cup margarine 1 Cup buttermilk plus 1-2 T
Mix dry ingredients together. Using a pastry blender, cut in margarine. Add 1 Cup buttermilk. Mix in with a fork until all flour is absorbed - adding the remaining 1-2 Tablespoons buttermilk as needed. Put onto a floured board and knead 4 times only. Pat into 8" or 9" rounds and cut each round into 6 or 8 pieces. Bake at 450 degrees until light brown - approximately 10 to 20 minutes. |
